Be the Reason: Miit Shah
Scholarships help students from all backgrounds access Saint Louis University's Catholic Jesuit education. Hear from SLU public health student Miit Shah on the importance of donor support in increasing access to a transformative education.Mitt says:"Definitely loans that I would might have to take out and especially paying them off after I've completed my degree - that was definitely the biggest issue that I had to worry about, knowing that I have four years undergrad at SLU and then going on to med school after that. The finances would just keep stacking up.So I changed my major to public health to learn the behind-the-scenes of hospitals and the fabric, I guess, underneath the day-to-day of just a patient and doctor interaction. Having the scholarships and financial aid lets me study rather than maybe have a job, which I currently do not have.I'll be taking a gap year. But in that gap year, I'll do some sort of clinical experience, whether that be working as a scribe, technician or whatnot. And then after that or next year, applying for med schools.I keep telling people I want to be hands on, so that generally means a surgeon, but I am not sure about that. But people keep telling me I'd be a great pediatrician.Having the scholarships and finances backing me up allows me to focus on these classes, especially harder classes. Now that I'm a junior, going on to senior year."Learn more about how you can support students like Miit at slu.edu/give.
