I didn't want to be one of several hundred people in a classroom, I wanted to be in an environment where my professors could really get to know me and that really drew me here.Angelique Brown-Wiggin: There haven't been a lot of other programs that I've seen that cater to students so well.Dane Bossert: The main thing was to expand my education, to expand the opportunities that I wouldn't get with just a bachelor's degree. At Saint Louis University, you get to really apply what you're learning in the classroom. It really equips you for things in the future.
Bryce Takenaka: SLU is a really good balance of access to resources, but also a place where you could foster meaningful relationships. The program is incredibly well respected nationwide and really phenomenal faculty.
Denae Cherry: Of course, everything that I learned in undergrad, I don't remember all of it. They were willing to teach me. That was really important to me.
Lisa Cohn: The instructors are really passionate and really care about developing their students and the students are all passionate about being there and want to all learn from each other.
Bryce Takenaka: Students do have the opportunity to engage in professional and networking opportunities.
Dane Bossert:: I did have the opportunity to just grow real-life skills, pave my own way.
Marco Ramirez: At Saint Louis University, I thought the professor, she understood what I wanted as a student but also as kind of like a mentor to me as well. This past summer, I got to intern with Twitter. She's the reason why I was able to do really well on my interview.
Jon Penn Junejo: The pandemic sort of hit, and I wanted to do something that was "essential." So that's what brought me to look at sort of different health care opportunities, and SLU was definitely at the top of my list because it allowed students to get a master's right off the bat.
We definitely had a hands-on approach. I've vaccinated about 250 people since I've been here. A feeling of being invested in our patients’ lives. I don't know if I could have gotten that anywhere aside from SLU. It's changed me for the better.
Angelique Brown-Wiggin: Being in the SLU MBA program has helped me a lot in the role. I was recently promoted while in the MBA program at SLU to the chief of staff to our chief marketing officer.
Bryce Takenaka: I feel like I've grown into a career in public health to fill gaps and inequities in our communities.
Lisa Cohn: It's exciting and it makes me feel like I'm prepared for the next phase in my career.Carter Jensen: It's still kind of a "pinch me" moment that I'm here and that I'm able to study things like this. The path it's leading you down—it's really rewarding.
Dane Bossert: SLU has definitely been that community-focused experience that I hoped it would be. So I'm excited to finish up and tell people that I have my degree from SLU because of the reputation that's behind it.

It's always been a dream of mine. I love the courtroom. And this dream would not be possible without the donors. Like, there's no question in my mind about it that without scholarships, I would not be able to even think of having this education. And it is due to the donors and their generosity that has allowed me to pursue not only my dreams, but my passion.I want to do a life of public service. I'm currently a summer clerk at the MacArthur Justice Center, and there we do a lot of post-conviction civil rights. So making sure that there are humane conditions in our prisons and jails. And that aligns with me wanting to give a voice to people who don't have it otherwise and wanting to represent people who cannot afford that otherwise. It's truly taught me that there can be a light in the world and I can be that light for other people and create that tangible change. And I want to use my legal education and be able to advocate to show others that there can be a difference. And they can also make that difference.I'm a firm believer that education is one of the best investments that you can make, but many people don't have that capital to make that initial investment and it keeps remaining a dream."However, scholarships help bridge that gap and give people the opportunity to invest in their education and imagine a better life for themselves and be able to give back to the community with that education and resources that they have.*********** About SLU: Founded in 1818, Saint Louis University is one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious Catholic research institutions. - 1:44Be the Reason: Caroline KaczmarekThanks to the generosity of Saint Louis University donors, School of Medicine student Caroline Kaczmarek can continue her volunteer efforts without worrying about balancing academics with a part-time job.Caroline says: "I feel the impact of your donation on a daily basis. I feel when I walk into class that I have someone behind me, that I know there is someone who cared deeply enough about medical education and just education for people who have worked so hard to get here, and it has helped me be a happier person in medical school. It's helped me to be a healthier person in medical school, and it's helped me to really focus on the things that matter in my education. My biggest concern about the cost of medical school is that I would simply never pay it off. Physicians have well-paying careers, all things considered. And yet, with rising costs across the whole country, I was simply worried that no matter how high of a position I would have or how fulfilling it is, that I may get into a cycle, that I never pay off debt.I have received the Magis Scholarship here at SLU, which is a scholarship specifically for those who have completed a lot of service in their time. In particular, I'm very happy that I did service before and during my medical school experience. It's been a huge help. It's decreased my costs, the cost of attendance quite significantly, and it's taken a huge weight off my shoulders.Another great thing about SLU is how much they've encouraged all of us to go into service. And I, in particular, do domestic violence work. I just find it very impactful to do, to actually meet people and moments where they are the most vulnerable. And I can be that support. And I've found it amazing to be able to do that work while I'm in school."**************About SLU: Founded in 1818, Saint Louis University is one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious Catholic research institutions.
