November Advice

Encourage Balance

As the end of the semester approaches, now is the time to encourage your student to stay balanced and make wellness a priority.

Priorities should include a healthy diet, adequate sleep and exercise, and some relaxation. Stress and fatigue may lower a student's ability to fight off illness.

Remember, November can be a tough time for students as major projects become due, and the excitement of the beginning of college wears off. Be supportive and positive.

TIPS

+ Many papers are due at the end of November or early December. Writing consultants in the Student Success Center can help from the brainstorming process to finalizing the paper. Appointments book quickly, so scheduling early is a good idea.

+ Course registration is this month. Talk to your student about what courses they will be taking in the spring. Once students register for classes, visit slu.bncollege.com to pre-order textbooks for the spring term.

+ Encourage your student to meet with a career development specialist to discuss career goals and to develop a four-year plan and to consider applying for leadership positions on campus.
