January Advice

Getting Back in the Swing of Things

January signals the beginning of the spring term. Some students are excited to return to campus and get back into the swing of classes, student organizations and activities. Others may experience homesickness again after being back home for the extended winter break.

If your student is a current freshman, it's time to start considering housing options for next year. Saint Louis University requires undergraduate students to live in residence halls or apartments on campus for their first four semesters. Make sure your student pays attention to housing deadlines. You can support your student by creating back up plans in case their first choice of housing is not available during their selection time.

TIPS

+ Encourage students to participate in Winter Welcome programs and other activities when they arrive back on campus.

+ Goal setting is key this month. Encourage your student to develop realistic goals for the remainder of the year.

+ Watch for information about Billiken Parent and Family Association events this semester. These are great opportunities to reconnect with your student and other Billiken families.
