Breitbach Assumes Presidency of NAP at March Meeting

Anthony Breitbach, Ph.D., director of Interprofessional Education at Saint Louis University, is serving as president of the National Academies of Practice (NAP).
Breitbach began his term as president of the organization at the NAP Annual Meeting and Forum. The event ran from March 13-15 in Washington D.C.

Breitbach is the first SLU faculty member to serve as the group’s president and the first president from the profession of athletic training.
NAP is a non-profit organization founded in 1981 to advise governmental bodies on the healthcare system. NAP is the only interprofessional group of healthcare practitioners and scholars dedicated to supporting affordable, accessible, coordinated quality healthcare for all.
Breitbach has been at Saint Louis University since 2000. He is a tenured professor, was the first director of the SLU athletic training program, and was a vice dean of Doisy College of Health Sciences. He was named director of interprofessional education at Saint Louis University in the summer of 2024.
Prior to his faculty role, he worked as an athletic trainer in clinical practice for 22 years, serving as the Billikens’ Head Athletic Trainer from 2000 to 2007 as well as coordinating athletic training services at multidisciplinary sports medicine clinics in Dubuque, Atlanta and Milwaukee.
Breitbach has been actively involved with the National Academies of Practice, serving as the inaugural Chair of the Athletic Training Academy, as well as President-Elect prior to his recent transition to President at the 2025 NAP Annual Meeting and Forum. He also serves in key roles with the Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions (ASAHP), Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC), Interprofessional.Global and the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
He also is an associate editor for the Journal of Interprofessional Care, Frontiers in Medicine and Frontiers in Public Health Education and Promotion.
As President of NAP, Breitbach aims to continue the group's commitment to interprofessional
education and collaborative practice, emphasizing its critical role in improving healthcare
delivery and patient outcomes.

The SLU Tuition Promise is for students from families with a combined Adjusted Gross Income of $60,000 or less and limited assets.
- SLU Chess Qualifies for Collegiate Chess ChampionshipSaint Louis University chess teams are heading to the Collegiate Chess Championship. The Billikens recently competed in the 2026 Pan-American Intercollegiate Chess Championship in Oak Brook, IL. SLU’s A Team finished fourth and secured a spot Collegiate Chess Championship finals, known as the President's Cup or colloquially as the “Final Four.” Additionally, the SLU B-Team was the top women’s squad at the tournament and will advance to the inaugural Women's President’s Cup.
