SLU's Emerson Leadership Institute to Kick Off Speaker Series with Barry-Wehmiller's Bob Chapman

Saint Louis University’s Emerson Leadership Institute will host Bob Chapman, chairman of Barry-Wehmiller, as part of its Leadership Speaker Series on Monday, Nov. 3. The free event will include a fireside chat on dignity-based leadership with Jackson Nickerson, Ph.D., Edward Jones Dean of the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business at SLU.

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University’s Emerson Leadership Institute will host Bob Chapman, chairman of Barry-Wehmiller, as part of its Leadership Speaker Series on Monday, Nov. 3.

The free event will include a fireside chat on dignity-based leadership with Jackson Nickerson, Ph.D., Edward Jones Dean of the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business at SLU.

Chapman is the chairman and former CEO of Barry-Wehmiller, a $3.6 billion global capital equipment and engineering solutions company. Under his leadership, Barry-Wehmiller transformed from a struggling manufacturer into a thriving organization built on the principles of Truly Human Leadership, a people-centered philosophy that emphasizes care, purpose, and value for every team member.

He is the coauthor of “Everybody Matters: The Extraordinary Power of Caring for Your People Like Family,” which was recently released in a revised 10th anniversary edition. Recognized by Inc. and SHRM as one of the world’s top CEOs and leadership visionaries, Chapman continues to share his message that business can be the most powerful force for good when leaders prioritize both people and performance.

Chapman will share insights from the book before he and Nickerson participate in a conversation about how leaders can foster cultures of respect, trust, and belonging in today’s complex world. The evening will conclude with a cocktail reception and networking.

The Emerson Institute’s Dignity-Based Leadership Development Program offers a range of programs designed to help current and emerging leaders strengthen their capacity to lead with dignity, foster belonging and create lasting impact. Through workshops, speaker events and targeted development opportunities, the series will continue to advance values-based leadership across Saint Louis University and the broader community.
