Saint Louis University to Host Conference on Artificial Intelligence, National Security
ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University will host a leading-edge conference focused on educating the next generation on AI practice in national security.
The event will feature top industry experts, government leaders, and researchers. The panels will include “AI” as a panelist, allowing participants to experience how users interact with the technology.
The conference will be held on Tuesday, March 26, at SLU.
This is the second conference hosted by SLU’s Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence. The inaugural conference in 2023 focused on social media and national security.
The event will feature keynote presentations from Robert Rahmer, director of the Office of Analysis Research, Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) and Dennis Eger, U.S. Army Senior Open-Source Advisor.
Rahmer joined IARPA in 2014. His prior research has focused on cybersecurity, cyber-event forecasting, threat intelligence and event detection. Eger advises on the development of OSINT capabilities, policy, doctrine, tactics, techniques and procedures as they relate to intelligence.
The Midwest Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence (MW-IC CAE) at Saint Louis University sponsors the conference. The event will provide an opportunity to explore how various disciplines can be applied to artificial intelligence and national security. Students will also be able to learn about career pathways in the intelligence community.
Panel topics include:
- Modern Analytical Tradecraft and AI – Panelists will include representatives from the FBI, NSA, CIA AND ODNI
- Data Infrastructure – What is the current state of common data architecture across and among the intelligence community, the military, and the rest of government? How are different government agencies coordinating on data architecture and what careers are available for students with a background in data science? Panelists will include representatives from NGA, ESRI, SCALE AI.
- AI and Higher Education – As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to become a burgeoning trend within higher education, Students from local universities provide insight into several use cases, benefits, and challenges of leveraging AI in a postsecondary education setting.
The event will also feature a GEOINT, defense and intelligence career fair sponsored by Taylor Geospatial Institute (TGI).
The conference is free and open to the public.
MW-IC CAE was formed in 2022 with a grant from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. It is dedicated to preparing students for professional positions in the 18 U.S. intelligence agencies. The Center supports the design and development of intelligence-related STEM curricula and programmatic training opportunities to prepare students for careers in the field of intelligence.
