On Wednesday, May 21, the Saint Louis University Interprofessional Education Program, the Doisy College of Health Sciences, will host the fifth annual Regional Summit sponsored by the Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions.

Two Saint Louis University Theatre and Dance faculty members brought home awards at the 2025 St. Louis Theatre Circle Awards. Nancy Bell, professor of theatre, was awarded Outstanding Director of a Comedy for "As You Like It". The show also received Outstanding Production of a Comedy. Lucy Cashion, associate professor of theatre, directed "Romanov Family Yard Sale," which received Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy.

Saint Louis University's New Venture Accelerator (NVA), launched in 2024 out of the Chaifetz Center for Entrepreneurship, announces its second cohort of participants. The NVA offers current SLU students and alumni who have graduated within the last five years equity-free investments of up to $50,000 through a special accelerator fund created through donor support. In addition to financial support, the teams receive additional resources and mentoring from SLU experts.

The Saint Louis University-Jesuit Worldwide Learning program offers bachelor's degrees to international students displaced by conflict, lack of opportunity, and poverty in places such as refugee camps in Kenya and Malawi.

After nearly three successful years working under the SLU umbrella, TGI is now poised to take a major step forward by becoming a standalone nonprofit organization this year. The transition marks the next phase in TGI’s evolution, ensuring its continued growth and long-term impact.

Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D., will deliver the spring commencement address in his final graduation ceremony as Saint Louis University’s president. Pestello, the 33rd president in SLU’s history, will step down from the presidency at the end of June.The ceremony begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, in Chaifetz Arena. The event will also be live-streamed on slu.edu and archived on SLU’s YouTube channel.

Students in Saint Louis University’s Aircraft Computational and Resource Aware Fault Tolerance (AirCRAFT) Lab are building an emergency response flyer to improve disaster response. The innovative aircraft will be able to drop a person and supplies into areas hard hit by natural disasters or other humanitarian crises. A grant from GoAERO, with support from NASA’s University Innovation project, funded the challenge.

Before stepping down as Saint Louis University's president this summer, Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D., and First Lady Fran Pestello, Ph.D., offered a gift to the SLU community. During a reception Monday afternoon in the Pius XII Memorial Library, the Pestellos helped unveil a new sculpture they are donating to the University. The sculpture, titled "Land, Labor, Legacy," was created by Ohio artists Kyle and Kelly Phelps.

Saint Louis University's Museum of Contemporary Religious Art (MOCRA) will hold a program on Saturday, May 3, exploring how the wide-ranging lexicons of spirituality, abstraction and Black cultural production are intertwined.

Sam Aitchison is now a Truman Scholar. Aitchison, a junior majoring in finance, leadership and human resource management, and Catholic studies at Saint Louis University, is one of 54 college students from 49 U.S. colleges and universities selected as 2025 Truman Scholars. The Truman Scholarship is the premier graduate scholarship for aspiring public service leaders in the United States.

Saint Louis University student Pascal Sikorski has earned a Goldwater Scholarship. Sikorski, a junior pursuing a BS in Computer Science and a minor in Philosophy, earned the prestigious award after a lengthy interview process. The Goldwater Scholarship is a prestigious national undergraduate award for students in STEM who intend to pursue a career in STEM research after graduation.

Daniel Dawes, J.D., had a message for the attendees in the Wool Ballroom on Thursday night - keep doing what you're doing. Dawes, a health equity and policy expert, delivered the 2025 Atlas Week Signature Symposium. His remarks were tied to the theme of this year's Atlas Week - "From Inequality to Justice: Transforming Global Health through Social Change."

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Colson Whitehead received the 2025 St. Louis Literary Award from Saint Louis University on Wednesday, April 9.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri will receive the 2026 St. Louis Literary Award from Saint Louis University. Lahiri is the author of the novels “The Namesake,” “The Lowland,” and “In Altre Parole,” among others.

Saint Louis University has joined the Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU), a consortium of more than 160 colleges and universities that works to provide innovative solutions to advance priorities in science, education, security, and health. SLU's application to join ORAU as a sponsoring institution, led by the School of Science and Engineering, was accepted at ORAU's annual meeting in March, along with three other universities.

Saint Louis University’s Aerodynamic Design Team is heading to Tucson, Arizona, this weekend to compete in the 2024-25 Design/Build/Fly Competition. The AIAA Applied Aerodynamics, Aircraft Design, Design Engineering and Flight Test Technical Committees event began in 1996 as an opportunity for university students to apply real-world aircraft design experience by giving them the opportunity to validate their analytical studies.

Saint Louis University has been designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) by the National Security Agency (NSA) and U.S. Cyber Command. The CAE-CD designation identifies institutions committed to producing world-class cybersecurity professionals with the knowledge and skills to reduce risks to national cyberinfrastructure.

The Saint Louis University A Chess Team defeated the University of Missouri in the finals to win the Spring 2025 Collegiate Chess League. This win is SLU's fourth Collegiate Chess League title in the last five seasons.
