02:42: - What Else Should You Know?VIDEO TRANSCRIPTWelcome to DeMattias Hall.Planning to go Greek? DeMattias Hall is Saint Louis University’s on-campus housing for members of recognized sororities, fraternities and multicultural Greek organizations.More than 200 students live in DeMattias, also sometimes called DeMatt. The building has two large multipurpose rooms, one on the first floor and one on the second, free laundry facilities and a communal kitchen. The first floor of DeMattias Hall has a 24-hour security desk and vending machines for late night snack runs. The second floor has a technology-capable multi-purpose room, also known as the MPR, and a chapel. There are also fraternity and sorority chapter rooms in the building — one for almost every chapter on campus.Let’s take a look at some of the floor plans.A single room offers you privacy along with the benefit of living in a community with students who share your interests. Bathrooms and shower rooms at DeMattias Hall are communal but this floor plan has a sink in each room. The double room is a large area with lots of space for extras. This floor plan also has a sink, which roommates share. Both room types use the community bathrooms and all rooms have central air conditioning and heating. So what can you do with each space? Let’s take a look at a single room:When you arrive on move-in day, you’ll find an extra-long twin bed with a memory foam mattress, a desk with several drawers and a chair already in the space. Many rooms come with a ledge that runs the length of one wall. You’ll also have two dresser units which can be tucked under the bed or stacked, plus a closet with a shelf and hanging rail for clothes and storage. Each room also has a sink and a medicine cabinet. There are lots of ways to make the room your own. Lift or loft the bed for additional space and storage. If you want to bring or rent a futon, there is room to do so without lofting the bed but plenty of students choose to do so anyway for a little extra space. You may want to rent or bring a refrigerator and/or microwave but you can also use the communal kitchens on each floor. And you don’t have to worry about bringing blinds - those come with the room.Closets in DeMattias Hall are open but you can partition it off with a curtain on a tension rod if you’d like.Students in DeMattias Hall like to use the ledge in each room as a spot for photographs and other decorations. Add a rug, lamps and some personal touches like cafe lights or a tapestry, and it won’t be long until your room starts to feel like home.Remember that individual dimensions of rooms may vary so check the floorplans at slu.edu for general measurements. What else should you know?+The closest dining option to DeMattias Hall is the Billiken’s Lair food court, which offers several popular chain restaurants.+ There is plenty of surface parking nearby and bike racks outside of the building.+ DeMattias has a front patio and lawn, which are popular places to study or spend time with friends. We can’t wait to welcome you to DeMattias Hall.
